What do you like most about being part of O'Brien?
The genuine care and service provided to clients, coworkers, and other contacts fits well with my own moral code. The top three things necessary for any healthy relationship are trust, respect, and communication. O’Brien consistently keeps all three of these top of mind not only with clients, but also with employees, custodians, and other professionals.
Can you share one secret to success that has been helpful to you in your career?
Be honest, positive, and ask for help when you need it. Being confident enough to know your limits and outsource where needed shows strength of character and allows you to put your best work forward.
If wealth management were an ocean, what kind of creature would you be?
In the ocean of wealth management, I would be a Feather Star. Not only do I have my hands in many projects, but I thrive in challenging environments and glide gracefully through simple requests. I provide support for those around me, and share my creative side. Feather stars, also known as sea lilies, are plant-like animals that can re-grow their limbs. As a returning employee, it has been easy to readjust to the atmosphere and I can bounce back from difficult learning experiences.
What would your co-workers say is your superpower?
“Ask me!” My superpower is finding solutions and making them a reality. Years of connecting people and experiences provides a lot of insight into all things administrative. I love finding answers, learning new things, and then sharing those experiences to benefit others. My enthusiasm is contagious.
You're a new addition to the crayon box, what color would you be?
Funfetti. Variety is the spice of life and I love to bake. One of the favorite parts of my job is the immense amount of different tasks, systems, and responsibilities that keep my brain fully utilized. I enjoy the simplicity of vanilla between the bright colors sprinkled throughout the day. If that comes with a cupcake, all the better!
Alena joined O’Brien in 2008 as a Client Solutions Specialist. Her specialty is a welcoming presence, providing administrative magic, and ensuring that clients and advisors have the tools they need to accomplish our clients’ goals. Alena is also an in-house Notary Public. Alena has a passion for baking and completed a Certificate of Pastry from Le Cordon Bleu and has apprenticed in local bakeries and coffee shops.
Alena also holds a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music and spent a number of years teaching private voice lessons. She enjoys gardening, Scottish Country dancing and nature walks.
